Nail Polish Storage Drawers–DIY

If you’re anything like me, then you love to have your nails painted, you own way too much polish already, and yet you still find an excuse for that new color that you’re convinced is so different from anything else you already have. But even if you don’t care about nail polish, I’m sure there’s something with which you can share this sentiment! And because we all have too much of something, organization is key. That’s why last summer, I made a DIY organizer for all of my nail stuff, and boy, has it helped me a ton. I’m going to share my organization project with you guys because I know that we all need a little “organization inspiration” from time to time.Read More »

Wish List

Today is a very busy day for me with packing and laundry and finishing up last minute things on my to-do list. I leave tomorrow morning at 5:30am for New Orleans. Yay! While I’m preoccupied with how I’m going to fit all my clothes in my bag, I’m also thinking about my wardrobe and everything in it and everything I wish were in it! I’m sure none of you have ever felt that way about your overstuffed closets! 😉 Anyway, I’m going to take this opportunity to share some of the things I wish were in my closet because it never hurts to dream a little!Read More »

Perfume Haul

I absolutely love to wear perfume. I spray it on before I go anywhere: school, church, the grocery store. It doesn’t really matter, I just want to smell good! Pretty much the only place I buy perfume at is Bath & Body Works, so perhaps this post should be titled “Bath & Body Works haul” instead! And I am aware that technically what I have is “body spray,” but you know, minor details!Read More »

New Orleans: Mission Trip

Next week I’ll be gone on a mission trip to New Orleans. My church has gone for about 5 years now and this is my second year going. I’m so excited for the opportunities we will have down there to bring love and hope to these people! In years past we have done our work in the 9th ward, but this year we will be in the 7th ward. This ward was also damaged greatly by hurricane Katrina and the aftermath is still very real today. The kind of work we do there is part labor, part witnessing. We may paint or fix houses, we hold a VBS for the children during the day, and we feed the homeless. While it is very hot and humid down there and often we get fed/housed minimally, all of the teens and adults who come participate actively and retain their good attitudes. Experiencing the lives that these people lead on a day-to-day basis can make some of your problems seem much smaller and we know that we need to be humble and serve these people. It really is a great experience and I know that the people in the communities really love having us there. That’s the real purpose of this trip, though, to make a difference in their lives, not ours.

All that being said, obviously I will not be active on this blog during that time (23rd-27th). I will have a couple scheduled posts, but all comments or anything will be answered after I get back. I don’t want any distractions while I’m down there! My plan is to hide all my social apps away in a “folder” on my iPhone and turn off the notifications for them for the time being. I’m really going to try to stay off so I can focus on my job down there and give these people everything I can! I’ll of course have a packing post and a post about the whole trip after I return.

Thank you for reading and my team and I would greatly appreciate any prayers for our trip! 🙂

Ulta Shopping Trip: Waterproof Makeup

Summer is fully upon us, which means sweat, sunshine, and swimming! That also means most of my makeup will run and smear. So, because I don’t want to look like a raccoon at pool parties or barbecues, I decided to invest in a few waterproof products. I also wanted them for a mission trip I’m taking to New Orleans next week. It’s even hotter and more humid down there and I don’t want to be worrying about my makeup while I’m playing with the kids!Read More »

Photo Project

I like to take a lot of photos. Sometimes, I even display them in my room if I like them enough! A few years ago, I got these lovely picture frames that you can stick on the wall–not vinyl frames, but actual, wooden frames. (I’ve looked and looked, but i can’t find anything similar online!) I put a few of my own photos in them. Read More »

New Lighting

The lighting in my room used to be so….yellow. Ick. Some people like warm lighting, but in my small room with only one window, it seemed to make my room look dark. Plus, pictures always had a yellowish tint. So, I went out and bought myself (well, technically my boyfriend bought them) two LED lights. Read More »
